How can I pick up honey in Taos?

We have a Honey Hut set up in south Taos for ultra convenient shopping. Items are offered at a discounted price in the hut. Message us for directions at highdeserthoneyco@gmail.com. If you’d like to place a specific order to be picked up at the hut, use code HONEYHUT at checkout for $0 shipping cost and we will send an email shortly after with directions. You can also find honey at one of the stores listed below.

What is raw honey and why is it good for you?

“Raw” when referring to honey means that it is unfiltered, unheated, and unprocessed. This ensures all the beneficial elements of honey are preserved that make honey so good for you. Regularly consuming raw honey can improve your health due to the high amount of antioxidants and phytonutrients. It is also antibacterial and anti fungal which make it useful for wound and skin care.

Why is my honey crystalized?

Raw honey naturally preserves itself by crystallization. Ours usually reaches this point after about 3 months at room temp. Storing the honey in a warm place will slow this process. To return your honey to a liquid state, submerge the jar in a warm pot of water and allow to cool. Repeat if necessary. Keep in mind that microwaves kill enzymes, which you don’t want for your raw honey.

What do I use raw honey for?

If you’re new to the honey world, welcome. Life is about to get a lot sweeter! Use honey every day in your coffee or tea. Replace honey with sugar when cooking (1/2 c honey = 1 c sugar). Heal burns and wounds with it. Sooth a sore throat (my great grandma always added apple cider vinegar). Glaze meats. Dip fruits. Eat a spoonful. GET CREATIVE!

How is shipping handled?

Each of our products are hand poured in small batches. Please allow time for us to ensure everything in your order is made to perfection. To give you the best shipping value we have updated our shipping prices. Shipping costs vary from $8-$15, depending on the weight. All orders $75+ are eligible for free shipping! Most orders ship through USPS, however we may use UPS if a lower rate is available.
